Taking over for a while
Sometimes even I get to be in charge. (Ty doesn't think so). Ali is busy with work right now and I have all the free time. I mean between feedings, play time, baths, reading books, cooking , cleaning, and of course...Diaper changes. So here we are and it's my turn again to update all of you.
Ty started walkng at 9 1/2 months and obviously hasn't slowed down. From the first few steps he was determined not to have to crawl.
So the child proofing began. Baby gates, (which he has figured out), electrical outlets, and cabinets. Every time we think it's all done he shows us all a place we have forgotten. So watching him has changed. You still have to be on top of your game no doubt about it. But it's different. Before you could go off for a second to use the bathroom and you knew he couldn't go anywhere now...You get some company and all the help you need in the reading room. On the other hand as long as you watch him, he can go off for a minute or two on his own and occupy himself giving you a mini-vacation.
His interests amaze me. Man does he like to read books. One after the other. It seems never ending throughout the day. He can pick out some animals or especially he can pick out Mommy in pictures. He's real good at that. You most definitely have his attention when you pick up a book.
Yes it started early. He eats pretty good. Got 5 or 6 teeth in there he can really do some damage with. He has become a bit more picky now so being creative at meal time is essential. Also, be prepared for a little clean-up after cause he has been known to play in his food a little.
He still sleeps good I think although he has been waking up at night about every 3-4 nights. He takes his naps in the day time as well. 2 or 3 daily. And there is one sure way to put him to sleep. TAYLOR SWIFT !!! when she sings "Untouchable" His lights go out. Truly an amazing sight to see. His fascination with her is undeniable. He will completely shut out all around him and focus on her.
On to me. Late in August I weighed 268 lbs. and found out I was diabetic. Something I should have known about much earlier. All the signs were there and Ali told me to get it checked. Well when the symptoms got worse I knew there was no denying it. A1C levels are supposed to be near 6. mine was 13. My glucose meter showed a 465 the first time I took it. Proper level is about 90. They tell me when it reads 400 call a Dr. and at 500 call 911. Scary numbers. My A1C level showed that my sugar level had reached 500+ regularly and 600 probably. Ignorance on my part. But Alicia was there once again to get me on track.
After evaluation and education,(Ali with a dietician). I started preparation for a lifestyle change.
No sugar. Period. WOW ! Did I just really say that? Well that is what it was going to take. But that's not all. Not by a long shot. But by keeping my carbs around 250 a day and limiting calorie intake to as close to 2,000 as I could get, my results have inspired me Doctors, my family, and most of all Me to continue doing the right things.
Today i woke up at 230 lbs. My glucose stays under 100 and I feel as good as I have felt in a long long time. I still have a long way to go but at least I have started the journey. Last year at Christmas my highest weight was 272 lbs. So I'm minus 42 and counting. The weight isn't coming off as fast now so I have to be even more dedicated. Good luck to me.
That's all for now. Ty has an appointment with the helmet specialist so we can check his progress. I will let you know how it turns out soon. Good luck to him.
